He was the Vice President of Business Development for an independent oil and gas company. He created a new division of the company focused on oil and gas investments. In that role he:

He was responsible for generating $17M in revenue for the firm in 6 months; previously, that firms' revenue was less than $1M. Kimo was at this firm for 2 years and earned his way to a 5% ownership position.

He was with the DSL provider Vectris Communications as a Director of Business Development. He managed the channel relationships with Qwest, Net Rhythms, Covad and ATT. His mission was to forge partnerships with the carriers to co-sell or offer the Vectris DSL offerings in their territories.

Kimo was a Regional Director of Business Development at RSM McGladrey in Chicago. He was a Notes evangelist and champion for RSM to his clients who included Abbott Labs, Baxter Healthcare and Ingalls Healthcare. He also earned awards as a top producer in the great lakes region in 1997 and 98.

One of his current clients is the Texas Greenbelt Coalition where he is the interim facilitator and co-leader of the group. The Coalition is a group of public and private companies partnering with utilities and local government to build green solutions and facilitate economic development in the Central Texas region.

In Sept of 2009 he was quoted by CBS www.smartplanet.com and The Austin Business Journal talking about how the coalition is bringing communities and public/private partnerships together to foster energy efficiency and green power generation.

Entrepreneurship

Kimo is currently the principal of KAS Consulting, a consulting firm focused on assisting clients with project finance primarily in the Green Energy sector. While doing this, he also consults with firms on business development areas, from marketing to strategic planning, product development and alliance building. He also assists in web2.0 and Social Media development and strategy.

Offering Management

For 3 years Kimo was with IBM as a Global Offering Manager. IBM taught him the rigors of top tier Product and Offering Management. Kimo was part of 3 groups who were all part of the "EBO" Emerging Business Objective groups. These were like being in a start-up but being backed by the 800-Pound Gorilla. It was structured, very tactical and somewhat free flowing at the same time. Kimo's job was to work with multiple lines of business (hosting, server group, global services, marketing and sales) to assemble software/hardware/hosting and services as one offering for IBM clients. Kimo worked for e-learning, e-business on demand and the Telco EBO groups.

While at an energy company Kimo created and managed the program which enabled the company to increase revenue over 800% by building a financial services firm and creating a two tier distribution model for the marketing and services around the sale of PPM's to accredited investors across the United States.

United States Military Experience

Kimo was a Supervisor (Sergeant) of Aircraft Electricians in the US Army working on Blackhawk, Huey and Cobra helicopters. He served the United States honorably for 6 years. He held duel Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) in aircraft electronics and avionics. His mission ready status for the fleet of 15 Blackhawks was 92%. This was 2% over the unit standard. While in the military, Kimo earned 2 Army Achievement Medals for Meritorious Service and 4 Certificates of Achievement for academics including being the distinguished graduate of the UH-60A Blackhawk Avionics School.
